Danny Broadaxe is a young boy who looks after his disabled dad. When their neighbour, John Seeping, goes on holiday he asks Danny to feed his tropical fish. Little does Danny know that John's wife, Vaquita, whom everyone thought moved away years ago, is still living in the house – in the bath. Vaquita tells Danny that she is really a halfling creature – part human, part porpoise – and longs to return to her home in the sea. But will Danny believe her? And can they change each other's lives for ever?

With stories by twenty-five writers from thirteen countries, Pangea, (meaning ‘all lands’ or ‘all earth’) features diverse and distinctive voices; quiet voices, brave voices, tender voices, and haunting voices. The authors include journalists, scientists, a lawyer, a costume designer, a crofter in the Scottish highlands, a writer-in-residence at a young offenders’ prison, and many more. Their stories range from the raw intensity of a man’s failure on a road in Scotland to the dramatic preparations for a big birthday party in Nigeria, or the moment a young man comes face-to-face with his Bollywood idol. The writers of these unique short stories are all members of the online writers’ community known as WriteWords.
